The Lagoa do Fogo Volcano is located in the center of the island of São Miguel, which makes the tour more diverse. On this jeep tour you will pass through areas that are not easily accessible to conventional cars, as you go through several dirt paths and so you will be able to see our geothermal and water resources in this area of ​​the island up close.

Departing from Ponta Delgada we will travel along the south coast to the city of Lagoa, contemplating the beaches of volcanic origin and the incredible Azorean sea with its blue and crystalline waters, having as an essential stop the Fábrica de Cerâmica Vieira.

Here we will have the opportunity to visualize the artisanal method of clay production and follow the entire process until the final product. These magnificent pieces are known among the locals as the famous “Louça da Lagoa”. Then, we'll head towards the city of Ribeira Grande where we can make a stop at one of the black sand beaches, the well-known Santa Bárbara beach, where a stage of the world surfing championship takes place. After visiting the historic center of the city of Ribeira Grande, we will head towards the Miradouro da Ponta do Cintrão to appreciate the part of the north coast of the island and its magnificent cliffs.

After visiting this unique place, we will start the ascent of the Lagoa do Fogo mountain, traveling along some dirt roads and some water courses by jeep. On the way up to the mountain, we will have an optional stop at the Natural Park of Caldeira Velha, rich in endemic plants, where you can bathe in its thermal water pools, with temperatures that can reach 38 degrees.

Finally, we will visit the famous and unforgettable Lagoa de Fogo, where you can enjoy a fabulous view of the lagoon, ex-libris of the island of São Miguel and a Nature Reserve since 1974. At Pico da Barrosa we will have the opportunity to have another perspective of Lagoa do Fogo as well as enjoy the scenery towards the south coast of the island.
